Applying for a Grant
Every year, each member of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation recommends an innovative and creative project proposal that fulfills the mission of the Foundation, and projects are funded based upon these recommendations. In addition, the Foundation accepts proposals from the National Recreation and Park Association and from other pre-selected organizations.
The Foundation accepts no unsolicited proposals from any other sources.
The Foundation Trustees generally use the following criteriain evaluating proposals for projects:
- The program should be new and innovative or have the potential to have a major impact as we focus on our two primary emphases.
- It is hoped that the funding will serve as “seed money” with the potential to be matched in the local community to expand the impact of the program.
- If the program is successful, there should be a plan in place to continue the program after the funding from NRF ends.
- The program should be one that could be replicated in other communities so that benefits could be realized in other communities and other agencies.
