Grant Request: $186,450 | Contact Person: John Thorner, 703-858-0784
For more than 40 years the National Recreation and Parks Association has promoted the development of parks and recreation opportunities for Americans of all ages. The National Recreation Foundation provided a grant to fund two different NRPA efforts this year, the Step up to Health Management Practice Resource and the National Summit on Health and Livability.
Step up to Health is a mobilization model to improve the health and livability of communities. The package includes policies, guidelines and practices for service delivery and marketing materials such as training DVDs and camera ready artwork.
The National Summit on Health and Livability expands upon ideas sparked at the Urban Summit to explore how parks and recreation specifically can play a role in improving the health and livability of individuals at a community level. The grant from NRF will fund scholarships for participants, session speakers, a research consultant, publishing and marketing costs
