Healthy Heart Care Program
Chicago Lights seeks to strengthen individuals, families and neighboring communities. The Health Heart Care pro- gram gives African American women the information they need to keep themselves and their family healthy. Given the poverty that these families are experiencing, they can’t afford proper health care. Without proper preventative health- care, these women aren’t healthy enough to maintain employment and raise their families out of poverty. Healthy mothers and grandmothers are needed to help families escape the cycle of poverty. Chicago Lights: Healthy Heart Care Program helps them stay healthy. NRF funding will support the expansion of the program at the current site and repli- cation of the program to multiple sites in two different Chicago neighborhoods. Moreover, additional program activities will be offered for the development of specific programs for mothers and children.
