Center for a New Generation

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula primarily serves economically disadvantaged Latino youth in the Silicon Valley area of California. Many of these youth are doing poorly on standardized tests and are failing to attain a high school diploma. In order to help address this and related issues, the Center for a New Generation (CNG) was founded in 1991 by Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice. NRF is helping fund the CNG’s innovative and effective after-school and summer academic and recreational enrichment program for children in kindergarten through 8th grade. The goal is to increase enrollment at existing sites, expand to additional school sites, evaluate CNG’s program, and dissemi- nate the CNG lessons learned to other programs.
