Sports Buddies
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit has served youth in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties since 1974. In 2007, BBBSMD reached 1,150 children through community-based and school-based matches with caring mentors. Sports Buddies will focus on increasing the number of male mentors of color for at-risk youth. In addition to the benefits of traditional, community-based mentoring, this program will encourage healthy recreational activities through participation in new athletic experiences.
