Kids at Hope believes that words are powerful. Rather than telling a kid that they are at risk, it is believed that you need to emphasize the hope that the community sees in the youth. Kids at Hope believes that: 1) every child has hope, 2) adults need to reflect this hope to children in their community, 3) children need meaningful relationships with adults, 4) every child needs to be able to articulate his or her hope for their own future. The NRF grant is funding the expansion of the Kids at Hope to cities across the United States. In this fourth year of funding from NRF, Kids at Hope has moved beyond their goals by implementing programs in 15 new communities.
