Operation Purple

The fact that the United States is actively pursuing military operations in various parts of the world means that many youth are left back at home while one or both of their parents are deployed to the front lines. This leads to high levels of stress and anxiety in the youth and often leads to academic failure and inappropriate behavior. The National Military Family Association is the only national non-profit organization representing the families of all ranks and branches of the military. The current funds are requested to bring Operation Purple activities, a day camp program, to children whose parents are currently deployed overseas. The activities are designed to alleviate some of the stress associated with being a military family overseas during times of war. Not only do the day camp operations offer valuable recreational outlets, but the youth also receive counseling and are given opportunities to develop greater coping skills.
