Parks offer recreation and renewal, promote exercise, reduce crime, revitalize neighborhoods, protect the environ- ment, and bring communities together. Parks are a place where youth can escape the hard reality of pavement and have an opportunity to connect with nature. The Trust for Public Land helps America develop and support parks for community development. The NRF grant supports the Parks for People project that will build four new play spaces for the youth of Newark and implement a sustainable stewardship strategy for these sites. Furthermore, TPL will work with the City of Newark, Newark Public Schools, and community partners to build the foundation for a system of neighborhood parks and playgrounds in Newark.
